
Bethany Burroughs
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a seasoned coffee professional, Bethany’s journey began with humble origins—roasting coffee beans in a whirley pop stove pop roaster. Today, she combines a scientific approach with artistic intuition, crafting small-batch blends that highlight the nuanced flavors of organic beans sourced from around the world. Each roast is paired with additional flavorings that compliment the natural flavor of the beans.
Bethany's Story
Bethany Burroughs, founder of Rustic Roasting, has been passionate about coffee since her youth. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Bethany’s culinary journey laid the foundation for her expertise in crafting unique coffee flavors.

Her career in coffee has been a rich adventure, from assisting her cousin in opening Whole Note Coffee in Easton, Maryland, to training with Open Seas Roasters, Blanton's, and Chesapeake Bay Roasters. She honed her skills through hands-on experience at various coffee shops, eventually managing Clarity Coffee in Indian Head, Maryland, where she worked with roasting mentor Mike Klumb.

Bethany’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to start roasting coffee using a humble stove-pop on a portable camp stove, later upgrading to a custom BBQ grill rotisserie roaster built with her dad. Today, she specializes in small-batch, organic coffee roasting, pairing creative flavor combinations with coffee origins from around the world, frequenting local farmers markets and aiming to grow into the community and become a resource for those new to making coffee at home.

In her spare time, Bethany enjoys riding her motorcycle, camping, photography, and embarking on food adventures, seeking out hidden gems in restaurants and coffee shops. With a dream of owning her own coffee trailer, she continues to take steps toward that goal while balancing her full-time job.
